A printable birthday treasure hunt for kids aged 8–10. A spy mission-style scavenger hunt with clue cards, puzzles and a word search that turns your home into a birthday adventure.

Your child becomes a secret agent and follows clues around the house, cracking codes and solving puzzles, finding their gifts or a small treat at each stop. Finding their gifts becomes part of the gift and creates lasting memories.

What’s included and how to prepare

Ready to print at home: UK A4 and US Letter PDF versions are included; no physical kit is posted. The pack contains 13 location clues, 1 optional lock clue, 2 blank cards, a birthday introduction letter and parent notes with answers, hiding spots and hints.

Choose 8–12 clues that suit your home, hide a small gift or treat at each chosen location, and hand the birthday child the selected cards. The mission combines code-breaking, wordsearch and other puzzles, with parent hints available. You provide the gifts or treats. You’ll need a printer, scissors and a pen or pencil; have a mirror available if you use the mirror-reading clue. Envelopes and a 3-digit combination lock for a suitcase finale are optional. A grown-up prepares and supervises the hunt.

The clues can be solved in any order, so you don’t need to plan which clue leads to the next. Using one main present? Add small treats, sweets or coins at the other stops. Money, gift cards, vouchers and ticket reveal notes work well too.

Printing and delivery

Print on white A4 or US Letter paper using a home printer. Card (if your printer supports it) or pastel paper are options. Black-and-white printing works, but colour is recommended. Download after checkout; you’ll also receive an email with your download link, usually almost immediately.

How does the hunt work?

Print and cut the cards, choose 8–12 clues that suit your home, and hide a gift or treat at each location. Hand your child the introduction letter and selected clue cards. Your child becomes a secret agent, cracking codes and solving puzzles to find each surprise.

Setup takes under 10 minutes and the hunt typically lasts 30–60 minutes.

Locations include under a bed, sock drawer, wardrobe or closet, behind a plant, shower, suitcase, car boot or trunk, shed and bookcase.

For a family that loves puzzles and games this was great. My 11 year old loved solving the clues and was really excited to run around the house to find the hiding places. Some were harder than others and he really had to think but they kept his attention. Thanks, we will definitely do this again.

We purchased this as an additional birthday gift for our eldest grandson and we were amazed how more expensive gifts were put aside in favour of the quest to complete the exciting missions with his younger brother.
